Pets Need Dental Care, Too!

February is National Pet Dental Health Month, but my human says my dental care is important all the other months, too.  He is pretty particular about my teeth, because he did a lot of work on them when I was a younger.  When I was a puppy, he put braces on my teeth because they didn’t fit together properly.  The braces and rubber bands he used made my teeth move so they stopped hurting me by cutting into the roof of my mouth.  I have such a talented human!  I really like it when he brushes my teeth.  It feels so good!  He says I can’t use his toothpaste because I don’t know how to spit.  That’s okay.  I think my toothpaste probably tastes better than his does anyway.  Afterward, I let him play throw the stick as a reward for doing such a great job!  In between brushing, he gives me Hill’s Prescription Diet T/D as a treat.  He says it has specially laid fibers that squeegee my teeth clean when I chew it.  I don’t know about that, but I do know it doesn’t crumble like other dog food when I eat it!  The first time he gave it to me, I couldn’t quite figure out how to eat it.  I got the hang of it pretty quick, and now I look forward to my special treat!  I love showing off my pretty smile!  Tell your humans to take care of your smile, too!  My human will show them how to brush your teeth if they don’t know how (it is a little different than when they brush their own) or do a professional cleaning if your teeth are too dirty for just brushing!
