| About Our Business The El Dorado Animal Clinic was established in 1910 By Dr. Amos Gish. His son, Dr. John Gish, took over the practice for his father in the 1940's. The current owner, Dr. Davy Harkins, has been a member of the practice since 1971 and has managed its growth since 1976. Dr. Harkins was named Kansas Veterinarian of the year in 2006 by the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. Our Registered Veterinary Technician is Kathy Daily, who has working with Dr. Davy since 1977. She has been honored to receive the Veterinary Technician of the Year award in 1999 by the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. To better serve our clients, we undertook a major remodeling and expansion of the building in 2000. We maintain the newest technology and facilities to best serve your needs. Dr. Harkins loves to educate his clients, staff, and anyone who will listen. He hosts the sophomore class of Colby Community College's veterinary technician program for 2 days every February to help give them a taste of veterinary medicine outside of the college setting before they are ready to embark on their chosen career. The El Dorado Animal Clinic is a full service Veterinary Hospital. We treat all species of animals - small, large & exotic - Dr. Davy is even the doctor on call for the zoo on occassion! Dr. Harkins is also one of the few doctors in the state to perform such procedures as root canals and braces on pets. Our practice offers an in-house laboratory, radiology including ultrasound, laser surgery, advanced dentistry, pet boarding, including separate dog and cat wards, plus standard wellness care and surgery.
